vigyan bhairav tantra
This dhāraṇā points attention to the natural pause after the out-breath ends and before the next in-breath begins — a brief gap with no thought-content in it at all. Resting attention there, even briefly, gives it somewhere to be other than inside the next thought. The instruction is simply to notice that gap, without forcing the breath to pause artificially, and let attention rest there each time it recurs.
