advaita vedanta self inquiry
Whenever a thought, feeling, or role-identity arises ("I am a failure," "I don't know who I am"), the practice is to turn attention back onto the one to whom that thought is occurring, quietly asking "to whom does this arise? To me. Who am I?" — not as an intellectual puzzle to solve, but as a repeated turning-inward that traces the sense of "I" back toward its source rather than following it out into another story about identity.
